Dental hygienist system of Korea

A person who intends to become Korean dental hygienists shall graduate in a university, industrial college or junior college and be licensed by the Minister of Health and Welfare after passing the national examination. The national examination is conducted at least once a year by the Minister of Health and Welfare.
The national examination includes a written and practical test. Written tests evaluate medical laws and dental hygienics. Dental hygienic consists of basic dental hygienics (oral anatomy, dental morphology, oral histology, oral pathology, oral physiology, oral microbiology), dental hygienics (regional community oral health, oral health administration, oral health statistics, oral health education), clinical dental hygienics (preventive dentistry, oral prophylaxis, dental radiology, oral orthopedic surgery, dental prosthetics, dental conservation, pediatric dentistry, periodontology, orthodontics, dental materials). Practical tests evaluate the skills of calculus detection and calculus removal.
